We had the pleasure of meeting Katia Beauchamp, one of the founders of popular beauty subscription website Birchbox, last month and we’re very excited to have her as this week’s EDO Edit feature!
Katia and her business school colleague, Hayley Barna, came up with the idea for Birchbox in 2010. When Katia realized Hayley had the latest and greatest beauty products (from her friend Mollie who was a beauty editor at the time), they thought other people would enjoy having the newest in beauty too. Throughout the rest of their time at Harvard Business School, Katia and Hayley developed their plan to launch Birchbox. If you’re not familiar with the website (we highly recommend checking it out by the way!) it’s a platform that provides a way for consumers to sample and buy high-end beauty and lifestyle products through an online subscription service.

ED: The one beauty product you can’t live without.
KB: Sunscreen (even better when it’s tinted). I love Jouer LMT, and am also a big fan of Boscia’s new BB cream.
ED: Favorite place you’ve traveled.
KB: It’s too hard to pick just one! Most recently I was in Montefollonico (in Tuscany). Such gorgeous surroundings! Plus it was where my husband and I traveled for our honeymoon 2 years ago…which paints all memories in a magical light.
ED: Designer that inspires you most.
KB: I am loving Phillip Lim right now. His designs are deliberate and statement-worthy without being overdone.
ED: Describe your closet in 3 words.
KB: Patterns, dresses, multifaceted.
